I could not have won the October by-election for the seat of Wentworth without the amazing and unwavering support of my volunteer team.
The door knocking, our presence at railway stations, markets, ferry wharves, social media posts and local community events in a sea of purple shirts was inspirational. Our volunteers ranged in age from thirteen to over eighty.
Just a few short weeks ago I was told that to win Wentworth would take a miracle. You have all been a part of that miracle. While the last batches of postal votes are still being counted, we can be assured that the AEC will soon declare the seat of Wentworth has been won, for the first time by an Independent. Together we will have made history.
I will work to get kids off Nauru, make sure climate change action is on this government’s agenda, restore the Climate Change Authority, urge the formation of a National Integrity Commission and to try to ensure that the My Health Record has adequate privacy and security settings. There is much work to be done and I need your help.
